New Delhi [India] April 15, (ANI): The Election Commission of India led by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora reviewed poll preparations in specific constituencies of West Bengal and Tripura on Monday.
The constituencies include Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and Maldaha among others in West Bengal and Tripura East constituency in the state of Tripura. These constituencies are going to polls in during second and third phase on April 18 and 23.
The review through video-conferencing included the review of assured minimum facilities (AMF) and ease of voting for differently-abled voters at the polling booths.
The meeting was attended by poll observers, police observers and expenditure observers deployed across the two states.
Officials were instructed to spread the word amongst voters to carry an identity proof as photo voter slips (PVS) will no longer be accepted in place of identity proof.
The police observers gave detailed information about the deployment of security forces in their respective constituencies while expenditure observers apprised the commission about flying squads and video-surveillance teams.
The CEC has impressed upon all the Observers to remain on the constant vigil and ensure that the polls are conducted in an absolutely free, fair and credible manner.
The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be conducted in seven phases starting from April 11 and ending on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
