New Delhi [India], March 20 (ANI): Congress leader KC Venugopal on Thursday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the ruling party 'itself is disrupting Parliament' and 'not taking up discussions concerning serious Ministries'.
He said the BJP must answer for 'mounting economic crisis and increasing social tensions'.
'The BJP's modus operandi to murder Parliamentary democracy is simple - pick up a silly, frivolous issue and use it as an excuse to adjourn proceedings. It is the order of the day that the ruling regime itself is disrupting Parliament and not taking up discussions concerning serious Ministries,' Venugopal said on X.
'As a responsible opposition, we have repeatedly agreed to discussions instead of disruptions, but the government itself is scared of answering difficult questions about their failures and discuss even matters related to important Ministries. The BJP must answer for the mounting economic crisis, increasing social tensions, and the collapse of the welfare state - it cannot run away,' he added.
The two Houses of Parliament witnessed adjournments on Thursday amid protests by DMK and other opposition members over their demands.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day without transacting any major business.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned until 12 noon, 2 pm, and later for the day, and the Rajya Sabha until 12 noon, 12.15 pm, 2 pm, and later for the day. DMK members protested in the two Houses over their concerns over the Centre's proposed delimitation. (ANI)
