New Delhi [India], March 22 (ANI): Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadauria on Friday praised the Union government's efforts against Naxalism and narcotics but urged the Home Ministry to address pressing national concerns, including farmers' demands for a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP).
'It is a good thing that the government is taking action against Naxalism and narcotics--it is the responsibility of the Home Ministry. But there are bigger issues in the country. Farmers are on the streets, demanding MSP. Unemployed people are not getting jobs, every exam paper is getting leaked, and common people are suffering due to GST. All are affected by the policies of the BJP,' Bhadauria told ANI.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Modi government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and that no one dares to carry out bomb blasts in the country as they did under the UPA government.
Replying to a debate in the Rajya Sabha on the functioning of his ministry, Shah accused the DMK of using language-related issues to divert attention from alleged scams and corruption.
The Home Minister emphasized that national security had long been threatened by three major issues--terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, left-wing extremism, and insurgency in the Northeast. He stated that these deep-rooted problems had persisted for nearly four decades, causing instability and hindering national development.
The Home Minister stated that the security, development, and sovereignty of this country have always been challenged by three major problems - terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, left-wing extremism, and insurgency in the Northeast. He mentioned that these three deep-rooted issues have disrupted the peace of the country for almost four decades, raised questions about the country's security, and hindered the pace of national development.
Shah added that due to these three problems, nearly 92,000 citizens of the country had lost their lives over four decades. He further stated that before Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, no coordinated efforts had been made for the complete eradication of these deep-rooted issues. He said that terrorism, Naxalism and extremism are on the verge of ending under the Modi government. (ANI)
