New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): In a swift breakthrough, Delhi Police solved a murder case within 10 hours after a 17-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a youth to death following a dispute over drugs in Ganesh Park, Jagatpuri area, officials said on Tuesday.
Police said that the incident took place late on April 21. At approximately 10:27 PM, police received a call about an injured person lying in a pool of blood near Balmiki Basti, close to Rashid Market.
Upon reaching the scene, officers found the victim, identified as Sajan, a resident of Rashid Market, unconscious and gravely wounded.
He was immediately rushed to Dr Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The area was subsequently cordoned off, and forensic teams, including the Crime Team and the FSL Unit from Rohini, were called in to examine the scene and collect evidence.
A case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Jagatpuri Police Station, and a dedicated investigation team was formed to probe the murder.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara District) Prashant Gautam stated that through CCTV surveillance and local inquiries, police tracked the accused to a residence in Ganesh Park, where he had been staying with his brother-in-law since April 17 for a friend's birthday.
Based on the brother-in-law's statement, police identified the suspect as a 17-year-old from Burari.
A police team was dispatched to Burari, where the juvenile, classified as a Child in Conflict with Law (CCL), was taken into custody.
During questioning, the teen confessed to fatally stabbing Sajan. He claimed that both he and the victim were substance abusers and had argued after he demanded a share of the contraband Sajan was carrying.
When Sajan allegedly abused and attacked him first, the teen retaliated by seizing a knife and stabbing him.
Police have recovered the murder weapon and the clothes the accused wore during the incident.
Further investigation is underway to verify if others were involved in the crime.
In another similar case, a youth was stabbed to death, and two others were injured after they were attacked by three people following an argument over refusal to give a bidi.
The incident occurred in the Pul Prahladpur area of Delhi around 11 pm on April 21 in J Block, Prem Nagar, near the public toilet.
Upon reaching the scene, the police learnt that the injured had been shifted to ESI Hospital, Okhla.
The deceased, identified as Sohaib (21), a contractor by profession, succumbed to his injuries. His elder brother Mohsin (23), a whitewash painter, sustained critical injuries and was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital. Their friend Akram also suffered injuries during the attack.
A police team reached the spot, and the area was inspected. The body of the deceased was later moved to the AIIMS Mortuary for post-mortem.
All three accused--Firoz alias Munna (26), Imtiyaz (30), and Saudagar Khan alias Sunny (20)--have been arrested. Police have also recovered two blood-stained knives used in the crime. (ANI)
