New Delhi [India], May 2 (ANI): BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Friday slammed the Congress party and the INDI alliance, accusing them of displaying double standards, especially regarding their stance on private companies. His remarks came in light of the inauguration of the Vizhinjam Port, a project developed in partnership with the Adani Group.
Speaking to ANI, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, 'Today, PM Modi in Kerala has exposed the double standards, not just of INDI alliance but particularly of Congress. The Congress and its entitled dynast, Rahul Gandhi, will take one stand in Delhi on certain private sector companies and in Kerala, his own party will say that we should get credit for the Vizhinjam port. In Kerala, the communist govt is saying that Adani is our partner...this means Congress, Communist Party and INDI alliance don't take Rahul Gandhi seriously...'
He pointed out that while Congress leaders attack certain private companies in the national capital, in Kerala, the same party wants credit for projects like the Vizhinjam Port, developed in partnership with the Adani Group.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the 'Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport' worth Rs 8,900 crore. This ambitious project of the Kerala government has been developed under the public-private partnership by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a political jibe at the Opposition INDIA bloc during the inauguration of the Vizhinjam International Seaport, stating that the presence of Shashi Tharoor on stage 'would disturb the sleep' of many people.
In his address during the public event after the inauguration, PM Modi said, 'I want to tell Chief Minister (Pinarayi Vijayan), you are a strong pillar of the INDI alliance, Shashi Tharoor is also sitting here.'
'Today's event is going to disturb the sleep of many', Prime Minister Modi said.
While the translator who translated the Prime Minister's message in Hindi to Malayalam did not deliver the exact translation, PM Modi said, 'The message has gone wherever it has to go.' (ANI)
