New Delhi [India], May 20 (ANI): After Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi's remarks questioning the loss of aircraft during Operation Sindoor, Defence expert Dhruv Katoch believed that the latter is 'misinformed'.
The defence expert highlighted that India's Operation Sindoor was conducted in two phases, out of which one of the attack on 'terror bases'. In contrast, the second phase depended upon 'Pakistan's response'.
Katoch highlighted that Pakistan was informed about the Operation Sindoor following its completion, and no civilian infrastructure was targeted during the operation.
'I guess Rahul Gandhi is misinformed. Operation Sindoor was carried out in two phases, the first one was to hit out at the terror bases... The second phase depended upon Pakistan's reaction... After the first phase, Pakistan was informed that we had hit out nine targets, no civilian infrastructure was harmed, and we would not escalate it further,' Katoch told ANI.
The defence expert further said that Pakistan was responsible for escalating the situation, to which the Indian Army responded and neutralised them.
'But they escalated, we responded and neutralised their attacks... At no time was our activity or our part of plans revealed to Pakistan, but only after the event, as the External Affairs Minister has clearly stated... Pakistan was told after the attacks went through, not to react, otherwise it would get worse, but they chose to react and they got the punishment,' he added.
Dhruv Katoch highlighted that Rahul Gandhi is being very 'irresponsible' by asking about the casualties and losses during Operation Sindoor. He stated that casualties are part of war, and it is very irresponsible of the Congress MP to ask such questions.
'Rahul Gandhi is being very irresponsible when asking about losses and casualties... Casualties are a part of war, but no nation ever talks about the casualties of its own nation, and it is very irresponsible of him to ask this question. What he should ask is if the targets designated to the Indian military were destroyed or not... I hope better sense prevails in the near future', he told ANI.
On Monday, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi again questioned External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, accusing him of being silent on how many aircraft the Indian Air Force lost during Operation Sindoor and said that the nation 'deserves the truth.'
'EAM Jaishankar's silence isn't just telling -- it's damning. So I'll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn't a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth,' Rahul Gandhi posted on X. (ANI)
