Ramnagar (Bihar) [India], November 5 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma predicted a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies in the Bihar elections on Wednesday. He described the atmosphere in Bihar as 'tsunami-like.'
'There's a tsunami-like atmosphere for the BJP and Janata Dal in Bihar, and the BJP, Janata Dal, and all our allies are coming to power,' Sarma told ANI.
Addressing Rahul Gandhi's remarks, in which the Lok Sabha leader of opposition alleged that the Indian Army is 'under the control of 10% of the country's population,' referring to the dominance of upper castes in the force, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma termed Gandhi an enemy of the country and described the statement as an insult to all army personnel who have sacrificed their lives for the nation.
'Rahul Gandhi is an enemy of the country, and the enemies of the country have planted Rahul Gandhi. Go and weaken the judiciary. Weaken the army. Create conflict among the public. This 10% thing is treason. It's an insult to all the army personnel who have sacrificed their lives for the country...he talks nonsense, talks about treason...We should think about why Rahul Gandhi goes abroad again and again. Our government should inquire about this,' added Sarma.
Talking about the Mahagathbandhan's promise to deposit 30,000 in the accounts of women on January 14, Sarma claimed that when Tejashwi Yadav did not even deposit three rupees in the account of the women, despite having the capability.
'Tejashwi Yadav was the Deputy CM of Bihar. Did he deposit even three rupees in the account of a woman? When he had the capability, he did not deposit even three rupees and today you are talking about thirty thousand,' questioned Sarma.
Assam Chief Minister commented on Mamata Banerjee's protest against SIR in West Bengal, claiming that the Mamata Banerjee-led government depends on the votes of Bangladeshis.
'NRC happened in Assam. It did not happen in Bengal. If you do not want SIR, then say yes to NRC. They eat, drink, and live on the votes of Bangladeshis,' said Sarma.
Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the ruling NDA in poll-bound Bihar on Tuesday, stating that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was merely a mask for the government, while the actual control lay with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
'Nitish Kumar is just the mask of the government while the actual control was with PM Modi and Amit Shah. His remote control is in their hands, and they make him act at their will, just like changing channels with a TV remote,' he alleged. He also said that if Mahagathbandhan comes to power its government will be inclusive and will take care of all sections of society. Expressing confidence in the Mahagathbandhan government coming to power, he said it will have participation of various sections, including extremely backward classes, backward classes, Dalits, Maha Dalits, minorities, and the general category.
Polling for the first phase of the Bihar polls will be held on November 6, followed by the second phase on November 11, and the votes will be counted on November 14. (ANI)
